The power of Mentors.

This was an interesting week. I learned the importance of self-mastery, what is needed to jump in the entrepreneurial field, how to choose good companions and the great importance of having mentors.

What resumes all the importance of self-discipline is the phrase "nature never pays an unearned account and she never fails to pay one that has been earned." This means that any goal that you want to achieve or any blessing you want to receive requires an effort in exchange.

I learned that there are three important aspects to have in mind for being an entrepreneur. The first one is industrial knowledge, which means to have experience in certain industry and also have contacts. Second, have skills to run a company in daily basis. Third, the ability to raise money. Those three aspects are listed in order of importance. So I know what to focus on for preparation.

Every journey we can take, will be a better experience if we are not alone. We need companions. And as important as this principle is to choose well those companions. We are the result of the people that surround us. We must choose people of character and integrity.

I made an assignment of interviewing three mentors of different ages. I interviewed my best friend, who is a very successful executive, my former MTC boss and my professor brother Nygren.
I got very interesting insights from different perspectives and for different aspects of my life.
I learned that it would be better if I got specialized in a certain industry in order to get a good next stepping stone (a job to learn about an industry). I learned that what separates the businesses that grows a lot and the ones that remain small and local is the vision of the entrepreneur. Is the strategy that you have at playing what makes your fate in the game? I learned that I need to take every opportunity that life give to me. It is better to take an opportunity than to regret for not taking it and wonder "what if". I learned something that an Apostol taught to one of my mentors. It states that every time we remember or regret about a mistake or error from our past, the enemy gets more power over us. We must not look back.

There are lot of insights that I gained and that made me know how powerful is to have mentors.
