An Introduction to a Different Path
The first week of my course Introduction to Entrepreneurship
has passed. I think that the content of the week has a clear message that
serves as an introduction to the entrepreneurial life. I think the message of
this week was that is good to risk and fail, because those are necessary steps
to achieve what you want, your dreams. It is a very different mindset than what
society is trying to show us nowadays. The mindset in the average people is
find security, to feel save. It does not matter if you are not doing what you
love, you must do it anyway because then you are sure. I always ponder about
it. Life is short and sometimes we do not enjoy it. Or we work hard in things
that do not satisfy us. If we are mean to work hard, then why we do not work
hard for what we love?
So that is inner call of the entrepreneur. To set aside and
begin a different path. To not be a finished product but as is stated in The Startup
of You, to be in permanent Beta. Keeping improving is keeping failing and
trying again. In the lecturers there were examples of Edison and how he saw
failure as the needed step to reach what is wanted. I love the words of Theodore
Roosevelt in “The Man in the Arena” about the merits of the one who dares and
try. At the end is stated: “…and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails
while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and
timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
Entrepreneurship is not for a clod and timid soul. It is
about having a passionate and vigorous soul willing to act for what he dreams.
I like this, and thinking about it makes my soul feels deep emotions, and also
fear because of an uncertain future. But as I learned this semester, I do not have
to underestimate myself nor what God can do to help.
